It’s going to be a fast, one-off publication with the working title ‘My Favorite Magazine’, and all profits going to support Bob Newman, a great art director, true magaholic and the man behind Newmanology.

Moshi Moshi Tokyo is a new-ish guidebook from the Space Shower TV show and features its hosts’ (primarily Kyary Pamyu Pamyu) favourite shops and places in Tokyo. Despite being written in Japanese, it’s great guide for any kawaii or fashion fan looking for some quirky places to visit.

Hello, Samuel here. It’s been very quiet here at ETWM for a while now but we are pleased to announce that we recently collaborated with Another Escape Magazine.

Myself, Sam. A. Harris and Alex Catt selected a photographer each to feature in a dedicated ETWM section of the magazine. I wrote a short introduction about us and put it all together in some spreads which then got sent off to the guys at Another Escape.

A big thank you to our chosen contributors Brendan Barry, Pauline Magnenat and Louis Perreault.

We couldn’t be more pleased with how everything turned out. Things are slow here, but still active and there will be a second volume of ETWM and some updates in the future.

We hope you continue to enjoy everything we have put out so far. Please check in every now and then and remember we are still accepting submissions via our flickr group.

REVIEW; Creative Review London Underground 150 special issue

I used to read Creative Review a lot when I was at art school but I generally make do with the (excellent) blog these days. I splashed out on this issue though as who can resist London Underground design? It’s full of great articles including poster design, typography, maps, station design and merchandise, plus a mini guide to interesting things to look out for at stations. I really need to fit in a trip to London before October to see the poster design exhibition at the London Transport Museum.

Fantastic cover too, illustrating future London. Hover buses and digital Big Ben I can believe, but I draw the line at dolphins in the Thames.

CR is hard to find these days but you can get it from WH Smith branches at train stations & airports (well hidden - I eventually found it next to the tattoo magazines) and online.

REVIEW: Japanese Whispers - Two Weeks Exploring Tokyo, Kyoto and Beyond by Lisa

Despite having a degree in Japanese Studies, Lisa had never visited Japan. She finally made it over in November 2012 and travelled around Japan visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, Kamakura and Nikko. Packed with writing and photos in a cool cut and paste style, this travelogue zine tells us what she got up to in each place, where she stayed and tips on vegetarian restaurants. It also includes travel tips, a mini travel guides and a handy hiragana/katakana cheat sheet. Great for anyone planning a trip, as well as those who want to relive their own Japan visits.

I recently finished illustrating a book called ‘A Student Abroad: The Ultimate Guide.’

The book itself is a lovely little guide to travelling/working or doing a placement abroad. I know it’s aimed at the student market but I’d say the information in there would be handy to anyone embarking on a big trip.

The book is available here or from most Glasgow universities.
